Scenarios

Crisis at Stalingrad by Marcus Vine

In this historical ‘what-if’ scenario, we look at what might have happened if Field Marshal Paulus had had an avenue of escape open to him at Stalingrad. A plane is waiting on a nearby airfield, ready to evacuate him to the West – but Paulus will need to reach it first, and the Soviets are hard on his heels!

This mission is designed for use with January 2025’s Soldier of Fortune figure (pictured), but can easily be adapted to suit your own forces, or represent any other commander’s attempt to escape from the front lines.

Rogue Heroes in Sicily by Robert Vella & Marcus Vine

In this article, we look at the work of the Special Raiding Squadron (a part of the still-coalescing SAS identity) under the legendary ‘Paddy’ Mayne during the initial landings of Operation Husky on Sicily.

Rogue Heroes in Sicily by Robert Vella & Marcus Vine

We present here unit profiles for ‘Paddy Mayne’ and his SRS troops, as well as a scenario featuring some of their work during Operation Husky, as featured in the second series of the BBC’s SAS Rogue Heroes! Originally appearing in the Soft Underbelly campaign book by Robert Vella, they’ve been updated for Bolt Action: Third Edition and are a great opportunity to make use of our Commando, Airborne, and SAS miniatures!

Thirsty Work – Defend the Wine Cellar! by Marcus Vine

June 1944 – somewhere in Normandy…

A US Airborne platoon pauses amidst a recently captured French village, grateful for a chance to rest after a gruelling few days of combat. Their commander, a particularly thirsty lieutenant, makes a lucky discovery – the wine cellar of a small restaurant is still fully stocked! Ordering his men not to disturb him for a couple of hours, he locks himself inside to ‘write some reports’. Little do the paratroopers know that a German counterattack is imminent…

Thirsty Work – Defend the Wine Cellar! by Marcus Vine

This scenario is designed to make use of the April 2025 Soldier of Fortune figure, ‘Thirsty Work’, but you could just as easily adapt it to any forces and theatre you like!

Just Another Day… for the Unkillable Soldier! by Marcus Vine

Autumn 1942 – Major General Adrian Carton de Wiart is taking a stroll with some friends, enjoying the sights and sounds of the countryside. His calm demeanour belies a situation fraught with peril – he and his fellow officers have just escaped from an Italian prison camp, and are attempting to rendezvous with their SOE contacts so that they can be smuggled out of the country. They will have to avoid roving Italian patrols as they make their way to safety – and the net is closing in!

Bolt Action by Warlord Games, Just Another Day... for the Unkillable Soldier! downloadable scenario by Marcus Vine

This ‘what-if?’ scenario is designed to make use of Soldier of Fortune 22: ‘Frankly, I had enjoyed the war’ – Lieutenant-General Sir Adrian Carton de Wiart VC, but could just as easily be adapted to represent imprisoned officers of any nationality making a daring break for freedom.
