A History of Violence
The Wars of the Roses lasted for the better part of a century, engulfing the British Isles and having an enormous impact on English society. Fought between family members and ever-shifting power blocs, they can often be complex to navigate. This book provides a clear and concise history of the conflict, its key players and battles, and provides everything you need to understand the battles you’re re-fighting on the tabletop! Everything from the origins of the conflict through to troop types, weaponry, tactics, and more is covered, making this your one-stop guide to wargaming the period.

Heroes and Villains (and everyone in between)
Part of the great appeal of the Wars of the Roses is their vast and colourful cast of characters. The great personalities of the period often appear larger-than-life, but their motives and actions are very human indeed. A whole section of the book is devoted to these men and their deeds, with rules allowing you to field many of the most notable in games of Hail Caesar. There’s even a section allowing you to create your own personages to lead your forces!

Muster Your Affinity
Full army lists and rules allow you to create and field the unique forces of the conflict. From the traditional English ‘bows and bills’ blocks, to dismounted men-at-arms, foreign mercenaries, and the emerging power of gunpowder weaponry, you can field a wide variety of troops to create exactly the force you want.

Re-Fight the Wars of the Roses
All the major battles and many less well-known engagements are featured as detailed scenarios, with maps, special rules, and army lists letting you fight them as closely as possible to history. Each scenario also includes a ‘what-if’ twist, allowing you to change the course of history to represent plausible events that might have happened. Alongside these scenarios is a fantastic set of campaign rules, allowing you to fight your way through the Wars of the Roses. Everything from capturing enemy leaders, the goodwill of the Papacy, and even noblemen changing sides mid-battle is accounted for, which makes this book perfect for anyone wanting to take on the role of an English magnate and stake their claim to the throne.

My Kingdom for a Horse!
Accompanying this mighty tome is a suitably regal special figure – King Richard III of England! Depicted in fighting on foot in full harness (perhaps at Bosworth!), he’s a far cry from his Shakespearean depiction – this is a warrior king, well accustomed to the battlefield, and equipped as such. Packed with detail, this awesome model is a great choice to lead any later Yorkist force, as well as a fantastic opportunity to show off your painting skills – particularly if you’re a fan of gleaming steel!
