We’re heading back across the Atlantic to fight the American War of Independence! Grab your musket and tricorn, and get ready to do battle on an epic scale. The Regulars are coming out! The American War of Independence (also known as the American Revolutionary War) represented a pivotal moment in world history – the founding of the United States of America. With the 250th anniversary of the 1776 Declaration of Independence coming up next July, it’s a perfect time to start mustering your forces to decide the fate of an unborn nation.
Black Powder Epic Battles: Revolution! allows you to fight through a fascinating and in many ways unique conflict. Lasting from April 1775 to September 1783, it falls squarely into the ‘horse & musket’ purview of Black Powder, and acts as something of a bridge between the earlier Eighteenth Century conflicts in Europe, and the later Napoleonic wars. It’s a conflict packed with colourful characters and a wide variety of battles, from small skirmishes to sieges to ‘classical’ pitched affairs – Black Powder Epic Battles is the perfect way to fight it!
Set against a backdrop of the American fight for independence from Britain (as the name suggests!), the war saw British troops cross the Atlantic alongside Hessians (the generic name for German auxiliaries of the period) to attempt to crush the American Patriots. What began as a colonial policing action quickly escalated into an all-out war, as the erstwhile Thirteen Colonies formed their militias into the Continental Army under George Washington and attempted to drive the British from North America. They would prove successful, and a string of now-legendary victories would cement the new United States as a sovereign nation in her own right.
