We’re incredibly excited to announce that 2026 will see the opening of the first Warlord Games store outside of Nottingham. We’ll be bringing you loads more news over the coming weeks and months about our exciting new location in North-West England, but firstly and most importantly, let’s meet the man behind it!

You might know him for his Konflikt ’47 article series, but Kris Sherriff is a man of many talents, and he’ll be leading the new store into the future. Let’s see where his head’s at on the eve of this momentous occasion!

I’ve been around this hobby a long time, and across a lot of different phases of my life, from playing casual games at my local club to travelling for events, running tournaments at huge conventions, and even creating content to help people start their own journey into the hobby. With all of that time spent, be it in the UK or North America, the one thing that has stood out to me the most is that the hobby grows when people have a place to gather.

That’s something the HQ Store in Nottingham proves every time I’m there. The moment you walk through the door you feel that mix of excitement, curiosity, and belonging that happens when a community has a shared home, from new players getting their first demo to veterans dissecting their latest game. It only happens when the space invites people in and gives them room to be a part of something.

Before joining Warlord Games, I spent almost a decade at The Sentry Box in Calgary, one of the largest and longest-running hobby stores in the world, and seeing how a space like that works day after day shaped how I think about retail and community. When a store works, it becomes a kind of engine for the hobby. Every game fuels the next list idea. Every paint session sparks a conversation that turns into a plan for the next campaign. It builds momentum, and a good store keeps that momentum going week after week.

That’s the heart of the vision for Warlord Games’ first standalone store. We’re not trying to recreate the HQ store. We’re taking everything we’ve learned from it, and everything I’ve seen in the great stores I’ve visited around the world, and building something purpose-made from the ground up.

A place with room to roll dice, paint models, learn systems, run events, and meet the people who share your corner of the Warlord universe.

Somewhere you don’t just shop.
You take part.

We want it to be the kind of store where you can drop in for a quick chat on your lunch break, sit down for a spontaneous game after work, or spend a Saturday running a full campaign. A store where new players feel welcome, returning players feel at home, and the community has a home that supports every part of the Warlord hobby, whether you’re painting line infantry, pushing tanks in Bolt Action, or experimenting with Rift-tech in Konflikt ’47.

We’re taking our time to get this right, because this store needs to stand on its own merits first. The goal is to create a space that genuinely works for gamers, for painters, for newcomers, and for the wider Warlord community. If we build it well, it becomes a model we can learn from and refine as we go. This isn’t about rushing into more stores tomorrow; it’s about building a solid foundation for what a dedicated Warlord retail and community space can be when it’s done properly.

This is the start of that journey, and I’m looking forward to taking these first steps together with you all.
