Summer’s almost upon us, and that means it’s time to start getting ready for the Bolt Action Grand Tournament, the last word in individual competition and one of the great highlights of the tournament calendar. We’ve previously discussed the basic facts of where and when in an earlier article, but just as a quick reminder:

As usual, the Grand Tournament will be held at the always excellent BritCon, in partnership with our good friends the BHGS, but there’s been a change of venue and timings from previous years. It’ll now take place on 22-24 August at The Venue@DMU, Leicester De Montfort University, Leicester, England.
The Grand Tournament remains in the East Midlands for 2025, right in the heart of England, but moves to an exciting new venue in Leicester, just up the road from Warlord HQ in Nottingham. It’s an absolutely fantastic location with great transport links – road, rail, and air – and plenty of accommodation available if you’re coming from further afield. For more details look no further than this handy guide from the organisers.
Make sure you’ve got your player pack handy – let’s talk about the tournament!
With a points limit of 1,250 and a maximum of 18 Order Dice, this is serious business for the first GT fought under Bolt Action: Third Edition rules. This format gives you plenty of opportunity to take your army in whichever direction you like, whether you want to bring the rain with an artillery gunline, mount up an armour-heavy force, or flood the table with infantry – or something else entirely. We’ve also extended the list submission deadline – you’ve now got until midnight on the 10th of August to submit your final army lists, and that of course means that Armies of Great Britain: Third Edition will be in play alongside the German and US books, as well as all of the ‘get you by’ lists!
You’ll play six games over three days – one on Friday night, three on Saturday, and two on Sunday – across a wide range of awesome tables and missions, as you battle for ultimate glory at the top of the table. One of the very best things about the GT is that, no matter how competitive the tabletop action is, the atmosphere always remains fun-first and friendly. It’s a celebration of the world’s greatest WWII wargame, played in the spirit of competition between mates old and new.
Make sure you’ve got your tickets booked and your army painted. I’ll be there with my Americans, so who knows – you might end up with a victory, courtesy of my legendarily awful dice luck!
Not got your army ready yet? Don’t worry – there’s still plenty of time to make your final choices, and whether you need just one more squad, or a whole new force, our webstore has you covered!
