INCOMING 2025
INCOMING was conceived in 2017 as “a tournament to prepare you for tournaments” What does that mean? I took the example of Adepticon and applied it to INCOMING. The twist was that I wanted to encourage new players to try out the game. The pressure of the tournament would be there, but in a fun setting. In order to steer the players away from ‘curb stomping’ I geared the prizes towards categories like” Best Painted” Best Sportsmanship”, ” Best Minor Powers. The person who goes 3-0 gets to choose the 7th prize. Last year we shifted to a doubles format. Doubles is a super way to encourage friends who may be interested but who may not have an army. It also works out great because you can quietly (or not so quietly) blame the other guy when you lose!
INCOMING is a Dice Hosers Premier Event again this year. The Dice Hosers are a group of Canadians who have tied all Ontario tournaments together into a season; awarding prizes at the end of the season for overall results. Our hosts, Mecha Games, in St Catharines have supported INCOMING from the very beginning. They bend over backwards to help us set-up, run and sponsor the event. INCOMING is a tournament that truly welcome players of all ages, experience, and skill levels. Everybody walks away with something in hand and a good feeling, even when they go 0 for 3! Players this year will participate in 3 games with 1250 points and a 16 dice limit (in order to facilitate quicker play for the newer players). The teams can divide themselves up any way they like and each player will control one or two platoons within the overall army. For example, my friend Mark (who will be in his first ever tournament) will control a German tank platoon and a German engineer platoon while my son controls an Italian Infantry Platoon and an Italian artillery platoon.
