About WAR TORN

Scarborough Wargames Club aka Da Orcs Lair is delighted to welcome you to War Torn, our summer weekend charity event.

In 2011 we changed our supporting charity, and have been fund raising for Help for Heroes ever since. For each visitor we donate £1 to charity.

Weekend Schedule

Throughout the weekend we are hosting several tournaments, participation games, a Bring & Buy, guest speakers and trade show, show casing some of the finest models available in the UK. For more details on who is attending see our traders page.

We are also hosting a variety of visitor participation and demo games, allowing you to try your hand at wargaming or get gaming with a system you love. More information on what clubs are coming and the games they are bringing can be found in thegames section. Anybody interested in competitive play should see our tournaments page for details on this years competitions. We have some great prizes and will have a tombola running over the course of the weekend.

New for 2014 is our guest speakers. The first to be announced is author Steve Dunn, who will be doing a talk on the Battle of Coronel. His talk focuses on Rear Admiral Sir Christopher Cradock and whether he was actually at fault for the Royal Navy’s disasterous defeat.

Time & Place

War Torn 2014 is scheduled for the 29 – 30 June in the Scarborough Spa Complex which is situated on the picturesque sea front. Doors open both days at 10 AM. We are situated over several rooms, including the Grand Hall.

A Licensed bar, ATM, restaurant and cafe are on site. Nearby is Scarboroughs historic castle and the beautiful South Bay beach. For details on parking, travel and accomodation please see the Find Ussection.

Tickets and Club attendance

Pricing is £4 which gets you a weekend ticket. FREE entry for under 14s if accompanied by an adult. Block bookings of tickets are available, contact us for more.
