DESCRIPTION:http://www.warlordgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=14402 as seen on our forum. \nYour chance to play against Bolt Action creators Alessio Cavatore and Rick Priestley! \nThe Cobridge Old Contemptibles Wargames Club invite all comers to take part in a Bolt Action tournament.\nThe event will take place on Sunday 13th July\, as part of their annual Stoke Challenge wargames show\, held in the Cobridge Territorial Army Centre\, Stoke-on-Trent (address details below) – proceeds to go to charity. \nGame designers\, Alessio Cavatore and Rick Priestley as well as Warlord’s own Andrew Chesney\, will be taking part in the competition – so why not sign up to pit your skills against them. \nAs well as the extreme kudos of winning such a prestigious tournament\, Warlord games are also offering a cornucopia of prizes. \nEntry for the competition (with free admission to the show) will be £15.\nPlaces will be strictly limited to 15 players (making 18 in total). If you wish to sign up then please PM me here to let me know your interest and I will forward you the details of where to send your cheque and who to make it payable to.\nPlease note that your place will only be reserved once we have received your cheque and it has cleared.\nIf there are any relevant questions then please feel free to post them here and I will do my best to answer them – or pass them to a man who can. \nTournament rules are as follows:\n• Rules – Bolt Action rules for each game will be as the most recent FAQ/Errata (available on the Warlod Forum).\n• Tournament Length – Each player will play 4 games lasting 1 ½ hrs each – each game completing the turn in progress when time is up.\n• Forces & Scenarios – For the first 3 games each player will be allowed to field up to 1000 points and the game will be one of:\no Envelopment (p108 main rule book)\no Point defence (p112 main rule book)\no Top secret (p114 main rule book) – each player must bring a suitable model as an ‘objective’ for use in this scenario.\nFor the final game each player will be allowed to field up to 1500 points and the game played will be Maximum Attrition (p110 main rule book)\nIn either case\, your force may be drawn from either: the main rule book\, or; the real net army book – you may not mix and match from both – one or the other only.\nPlayers may field a maximum of 12 units within the points limit specified for each game.\nA list of the force you intend to use for both your 1000 and 1500 point force must be supplied to the referees prior to starting the first game on the day of the competition.\nAny player may request to view the army list of any other player at any time. \n• Tournament Points – Once the time is up or the game is finished\, victory is determined by objectives held.\nIf the game has not finished and a winner cannot be determined by objectives held\, then a winner will be decided as that player who has destroyed the highest points value of opposing forces.\nEach player then accrues ‘Tournament Points’ for that game: 3 points for a win; 2 points for a draw; 0 points for a Loss. \n• Casualty Points – During each game\, each player should keep a running total of the total points value of opposing forces they have destroyed. This total may be used to adjudicate the winner of any game where victory cannot be determined by objectives held. This total should be checked and corroborated by the opposing player and referee for that game.\nThe total points value of opposing forces that a player has destroyed in all games so far played is the players ongoing ‘Casualty Points’ total\, which may be used to adjudicate player matching in subsequent games after the first\, as well as final tournament placing. \n• Game Matching – Match-up for the first game will be decided by random draw. From the second round\, players will be paired using a Swiss system (i.e. players with the same number of Tournament Points (TPs)\, in descending order\, will be matched for the next game).\nIn case of more than two players on the same number of TPs\, players will be matched in descending ‘Casualty points’ total. Where more than 2 players have the same TP and Casualty points total\, player pairing will be determined by random draw\, unless 2 of those players have already been matched for a previous game – in which case they should not be re-matched.\nWhen two players that have already been matched in a previous game are matched to play each other again\, they must randomly select opponents from the players on the next table down. Nearby is Scarboroughs historic castle and the beautiful South Bay beach. DESCRIPTION:Ladies and gents. Hope you’re all well. \nExmouth Imperials would like to welcome you to Legionary 2014. The theme which will continue through our shows will be that we want Legionary to be “The Friendly Show”\, and one where people get involved. \nLast year we broke new boundaries. More traders than ever was supplemented by a staggering number of show games. We asked for support in this area from our local (and not so local!) clubs and traders. The results were breathtaking in terms of numbers\, quality\, and the breadth of genres. \nSo\, what are these genres that we will show you? Expect to see role playing\, fantasy\, science fiction\, Very British Civil War\, aerial combat\, and historical covering everything from ancient through to modern. You may be surprised\, but we are broadening this show. \nAnd our traders? Well we expect to have an even greater trader team this coming year\, surpassing last year’s tally. \nOur large Bring and Buy will still be there as always. \nTournaments however are going to break the mould. This Legionary 2014 we will be offering the following competitions for people to try. Following the theme of “The Friendly Show” we have been ably helped in this new endeavour by two truly supportive local clubs. We have a platform of variety and breadth in our competitions. \nWe think this is really quite different. \nWarhammer Fantasy Battle Tournament – Hosted by Exmouth Imperials \nSAGA Dark Ages Tournament – Hosted by Exmouth Imperials \nBolt Action WWII Tournament – Hosted by Plymouth Association of Wargamers \nWar and Conquest Ancients Tournament – Hosted by Lincombe Barns Wargames Society \nWe have also found from our experiences over the last two shows that as we talk to our local clubs and traders other things will happen. DESCRIPTION:Due to the very sad loss of GCN president Anthony Barnes we are going to be postponing this event until further notice. Tony was the driving force behind a huge resurgence in the club network and will be hugely missed by all. \n  \nWelcome one and all to the 1st Gaming Club Network Open Day. \nWarlord Games would like to invite ALL members of ALL GCN affiliated clubs to a day of games and interaction. This will happen every six months as we want to let you know on a more regular basis where we are going and find out what you guys are up to now as well. So come on down and show us your projects. \nOpen gaming starts from 10 a.m. and is encouraged between all the clubs\, obviously Bolt Action is the easiest one for pick up games but feel free to bring any Warlord game you like. \nWe are going to be running intro games of Bolt Action all day\, so for those that haven’t seen it yet this is a great opportunity. For those that are engaged in the Sarge program (or just run intro games anywhere) this is a chance to show us your skills or pick up some pointers on how to run a successful introductory game. \nAlessio Cavatore\, author of Bolt Action will be on hand to talk to about the game system. We will be running a full Q&A session at 2 p.m. so make sure you come prepared! No question too stupid or too controversial… \nRick Priestley is going to pop down and talk about all things war-gaming related\, and if you are lucky he will let you see his collection of Boromites (whatever they are…)! The more he gets bribed with cups of tea the more he is prepared to divulge. \nAlso Warlord Games owners (or the engine room as we call them) John Stallard and Paul Sawyer are going to be there. Paul will be there to talk to you all about the future of Warlords releases and if you are lucky he may have some test shots of the new plastic boxed sets as yet not seen by the public.
