SUMMARY:Southampton Sluggaz Antares Tournament
DESCRIPTION:Well people\, this is it! Our first ever Tournament for “Beyond the Gates of Antares”. I will release a proper rules pack nearer the time with scenario rules\, but for now here is what you need to know. \nThis will be a 1\,000 point event over 3 games using the standard Faction Army lists (So no Vector formations etc…) Tournament Points will be awarded for the following:  \nMajor Win – 4 points\nMinor Win – 3 points\nDraw – 2 points\nMinor Loss – 1 point \nAn additional Tournament point will also be awarded for a prompt submission of your Army list and another for fully painted forces\, so take the opportunity to get painting your dudes and thinking about what you’ll be taking. I will publish the email address for army list submissions nearer the time.  \nPrize support is being provided by the lovely chaps at Warlord Games (Thanks Karl!) There will be prizes for 1st\, 2nd and 3rd place\, together with Most Sporting and the Best painted army as voted for by the players. Rumours of a humiliating Booby prize for last place are completely unfounded and should be ignored. \nThe event is being held at the Southampton Sluggaz club. The address is: St Denys Community Centre\, Priory Road\, St Denys\, Southampton\, Hampshire\, SO17 2JZ. There is free parking on site.  \nThe Tournament entry fee is £10.00 (Members of the Southampton Sluggaz club get the usual discounted rate down to £7.50) which will need to be paid in advance by Paypal to secure your place. The paypal email is southamptonsluggaz@gmail.com and you need to mark it as a friend/family transaction otherwise we get charged. You also need to note your name and that it is for the Antares Tournament.  \nThe time table is as follows:\n9:30 – 10:00 Arrival and Registration\n10:00 – 12:30 Game 1 (1k Points)\n12:30- 1:15 Lunch\n1:20 – 3:50 Game 2 (1k Points)\n4:00 – 6:30 Game 3 (1k Points)\n6:30 – 7:00 Awards presentation and heckling\n7:00 onwards Vast quantities of beer and food in Southampton (I’m not paying for that – bring your wallets!)  \nYou are welcome and encouraged to bring your own food and drink\, thought there is a strict no alcohol on site policy. (All miniatures must be WYSIWYG and have at least a basic paint job).\nA rule book and any errata or FAQ you may think is relevant \nTwo hard copies of your army list.\n\nMissions: \nStandard rule book missions will be randomly determined once all participants have registeredand submitted a list. These missions will be taken from any of the books (main rule book\, plus the additional mission at the end of this pack) and use the mission rules that are set for them. So choose your army wisely. \nFor this event we’d like to make sure that forces\, so far as possible\, represent ones that are as plausible as possible for a game that has WWII as its theme. While imperfect\, this will help to mitigate the impact of some of the more problematic units in the game without resorting to house rules or ‘comping’. \nWe’d really encourage players to go ‘as themed as possible’\, and if you want to do a specific unit at a specific time and place (a reinforced platoon from Johnny Frost’s Bn at Arnhem\, for instance\, or maybe a Panzer Zug from the 21st Panzer Division in 1941\, or whatever) then crack on and we’ll be suitably impressed (and there might be a prize for ‘Best Force’ or similar in the mix to reward that). But if all you want is a force that looks right for the time and place for your chosen nation\, that’s fantastic too. \nWe’ve found that the overwhelming majority of forces fit into this structure with little or no tweaking. If time’s limited or historical research isn’t your strong suit then the guidelines are designed to help you and the event organisers will be very happy to offer any assistance they can if desired – remember this is aimed at improving everyone’s enjoyment\, it’s not meant to be a chore.

DESCRIPTION:What’s New?\nBeing an avid Star Wars fan I thought you would all appreciate a picture of the Star Wars participation game I put on at Alumwell show a while back\, I have staged the assault on Hoth game there a number of times\, in different scales\, and run a few assault on the Death star games at a few local shows\, I also dabbled with a Lord of the Rings game (Helms Deep)\, and in 2014 I put on the Battle of Naboo (Droids vs Gungans) I love putting a smile on peoples faces\, and although I do not get the chance to put a game on at my own show\, there is enough there on the day\, by way of gamers and traders\, to do the job for me. So come along\, if you have a good time\, tell your friends\, if not come and tell me\, I will be running the bring and buy (best talk to me in the afternoon when it all calms down a bit). Have fun\, talk to lots of people. If you want to play one of my games\, I have set up a Facebook site\, (it should come up as Paul Broadhurst or it may come up Wargamershow)\,if you see a picture from the Empire Strikes Back (Hoth) you are in the right place\, I will be adding pages with all you need to stage your own versions (except perhaps the models themselves).

I’m a tabletop gamer who started with some familiar titles back in the late 80s/early 90s\, one or two of them may have been written by Rick Priestly.  I always wanted to run an independent games shop\, like the one I used to go to as a teenager.  I learned so much there about gaming\, painting and the variety of gaming products. \nI have always been a massive Doctor Who fans and when Warlord Games released their range of figures I knew I had to stock them.  I even asked one of the store regulars to pick me up a copy of the game when it was released at Salute in London earlier this year.  Of course\, this became a store copy.   The miniatures cast for this range are among the finest castings I have ever seen.  The detail is amazing. \n\n\n\n One of the great things about Warlord skirmish games is their openness and accessibility.  The recruitment cards on Doctor Who or Project Z\, for example\, saves valuable game time\, by having the stats in front of you.  Also\, the specialized dice make the results of any particular role obvious.  This is really helpful when explaining a game to new players.  We hold regular games nights in the store and at the time of writing are planning on holding a Doctor Who anniversary games night.\n\nMy store philosophy is: \n\nGaming doesn’t have to complicated. \nThe rule book and source materials are merely the beginning and certainly not the be all and end all\n\nIt’s your game\, your army\, your character\, your decision.\nHave fun!\n\n \nMy customers and I are looking forward to Blood Red Skies.  The gameplay looks interesting and the miniatures are amazing.  This will be for many people an accessible game for WW2 aviation and a long-awaited accompaniment to Bolt Action.  If you haven’t seen any of the promotional videos for this I strongly advise it.\n\nMy store faction for Doctor Who is the Cybermen.  It is my personal goal to upgrade every possible creature in the game.  They are also very easy and quick to paint\, useful for a store owner with less and less time on his hands.  In the future\, I hope to have a store Doctor painted alongside some Daleks.\n\n\nIf you are passing please do pop in for a cuppa and a game or two.  We can be found just outside Chesterfield town centre.  If not you can order online probably not tea though\, if the postman doesn’t drink if it may be cold when it arrives.\n\n\n\nMountain Gremlin Games\n230 North Wingfield Road\nGrassmoor\nChesterfield\nS42 5EW\n\n\nmountaingremlingames.com \ngremlin@mountaingremlingames.com \n\nVisit the blog post here or Facebook event page here.

DESCRIPTION:Attack! 2017 \nThe Devizes Distrct Wargames Group’s annual show Attack! will be held on the weekend of 15-16 July 2017 at: \nDevizes School\, The Green\, Southbroom Road\, Devizes\, SN10 3AG. \nThis will be the 38th year of the show; last year we were be pleased to see around 1000 visitors\, traders and competitors attend. \nGeneral Information \nDevizes School is conveniently located near to the town centre. There are cash machines\, public houses and shops just a short walk from the school and there is also the benefit of free on-site parking (available on a first come basis). \nOpening Times \nAttack! is open to the public 10.00am – 5.00pm each day and visitor costs are: Adults £2.50\, U16s £1.00 and family tickets (2 adults and 2 u16s) just £5.00. \n

SUMMARY:ANTARES CAMPAIGN NIGHT Every Wednesday
DESCRIPTION:10 week campaign running every Wednesday. \nWeek 6:Xilos Landing (Xilos rulebook pg 12) \nXilos is here! The factions will be fielding 750 points each from this point on! This weeks mission is as follows: \nScenario 1: Xilos landing \nThis game represents an attack upon one of the Quantum Gravity Generator stations that maintain the defenders defence net above Xilos\, preventing their foe from making a conventional landing. The defenders deploy on the table and receive further reinforcements during the game. The attackers must run the gauntlet of enemy defences and land their drop capsules as close to the target as possible. The attackers must capture or destroy the generator station. The defenders must prevent this happening. \nOur players will also be playing the drop capsule mini game!
