SUMMARY:UEA Historical Wargame Taster - Bolt Action!
DESCRIPTION:We’re looking at using this taster event as a way to get players into the world of Historical wargaming and bty extent\, Bolt Action. At our university\, Warhammer and its variations are the main game systems played so presenting a cheaper (and more fun!) alternative to get more people into the hobby. – If you can’t get new people\, it becomes a ticking timebomb. \nWe’ve divided our event into two distinct parts\, Firstly we are running a semi-competitive tournament for those who have already played the system to be able to roll some dice as well as using our support prize to give a 1st place. Secondly\, we’ll be running a winter thematic beginners table\, where each person will control a platoon and learn how to play the game in a friendly environment and if there is enough time\, play a full game to confirm. This event will also be used by myself as an idea of how successful Bolt Action will be at this university\, as there are no other people planning to run it.

SUMMARY:FALL OFFENSIVE
DESCRIPTION:This event is aimed at revitalizing the local Bolt Action scene in the area. It seems that since the\npandemic and just before the launch of 3rd Edition\, a lot of the local Bolt Action groups have\ndwindled. While games may not have been happening there has definitely been an ongoing\nwant for more hosted events it just seemed that local hobby organizers may have slowed down.\nI have spoken with plenty of local wargamers at multiple different LFGS and it seems they are\nmore than interested in diving back into full-on Bolt Action gaming; this event is one of many\nthat will hopefully accomplish that.\nThis event is a smaller one consisting of lists of 450pts and encompassing two games where\nvictory points will be earned and tracked for tournament placing. Having a smaller\nbeginner-friendly tournament is crucial as it makes it more approachable for those that may be\non the fence\, returning after a hiatus or those that are more rusty on the ruleset. Furthermore\, to\nallow this to be a beginner-friendly event I have offered up multiple loaner forces from my\ncollection to be used on that day. This allows people who are interested in the game system to\ntry it out and hopefully get them into an amazing\, friendly wargaming community. Finally the\nsmaller amount of points allows for people returning to or learning the game to take time with\nthe rules and ask questions when needed\, where I will be there to answer.\nTo wrap up\, as previously mentioned that hope of this game day is to be one of many going\nforward. Hopefully this event can catalyze future support to have larger tournaments. I have\nbeen in contact with a fellow hobbyist in Moncton (a larger nearby city) to already plan a future\ntournament day in late November. To create momentum to achieve this community\nengagement\, I plan to offer prize support hopefully granted by you guys at the Warlord Games\nTeam. I also will be making some homemade plaques for: Top General (first place)\, Wooden\nSpoon (last place) and Best Painted. Having the last one being voted on the day of. Finally I\nwish to create a spoof trophy cup for the local area for the ‘2025-2026 season’ so to speak.\nNaming it the Golden Tiger\, having it 3d-printed with my printer and painted gold. With the\nwinner of each local tournament named on a plaque upon the trophy. All of this combined will\nideally create lots of local engagement and future attendance within the local Bolt Action\ncommunity.\nBolt Action has been my main wargaming hobby for years now and I wish to share this\nwonderful game system with as many people as I can. For me at the end of the day it allows\nyou to talk about your hobby with others\, de-stress\, share laughs and admire cool paintjobs!

DESCRIPTION:I will be running a Learn to Play Bolt Action version 3 event at one of the largest game\nconventions on the west coast. Kublacon takes place over the Memorial Day weekend\nand features 100’s of games and 1000’s of players from all over the world. My beautifully\ndetailed Normandy village table will be prominently located in the miniatures room and\nwill run from 9am until they kick me out. Everyone is welcome to sit down while I walk\nthem through a description of Bolt Action followed by at least one complete turn of the\ngame. I will also demonstrate how the Bolt Action App works. There will be two loaner\narmies available for any new players who want to try a complete game on one of the two\nadditional tables set up for anyone who wants to drop in for a casual game. We’ll be hosting a day full\nof introductory demos and skirmish games for both new and returning players alike\, all to get an\nunderstanding of the new 3rd edition and form a community of like-minded players excited to\nget out and play one of the most approachable WW2 miniature games out there! Demo tables\nfor quick introductory games to the rules as well as entire skirmish-sized forces if you want to\ngive full games a try will be available for newcomers to use\, so don’t fret if you don’t have any\nmodels or game knowledge yet – this day is here to show you the ropes and get you aboard!\n–\n– For the demo portion of the day we’ll have people on hand to give you an introduction to\nthe basic game mechanics and concepts over a small infantry engagement. Concepts like orders\,\nmovement\, attacking\, and pinning – all core parts of the game that you’ll be shown in an easy to\nlearn way!\n–\n– For the core of the day we’ll be having sets of paired learning skirmish games where you can\nlearn and familiarize yourself with more game rules like weapon teams and vehicles\, and go\ndeeper into the nuances of the rules introduced in the demos. Plus we’ll have some fun\nachievements you can strive for during the event itself for your shot at prizes!\n– \n–  If you already have a force built this’ll be a great way to get some games in and learn the new\nedition while meeting like minded locals for future games\, but if you don’t have any models or\nfamiliarity with the game yet we will have skirmish forces on hand you’ll be able to use to learn\nand play! You can even join the event after trying the demos if you find yourself liking it (so long\nas we haven’t run out of armies yet!)\n–\n– The Structure of the Skirmish Games is as follows:\n– The day starts at 11am\, you’ll be paired into an opponent as soon as someone is available! DESCRIPTION:Come help us ring in Version 3 with a Bang!….And a boom….And a rat-tat-tat….With all of the excitement surrounding the release of BA version 3\, Coal Legion Gaming in conjunction with Alchemist’s Cove wants to welcome it in a proper way.  We will be setting a simplified tournament format with lots of different types of terrain tables and pairing up players while going through the scenarios to give everyone a proper full immersion into the new rules.  A variety of players\, tables and lists will help make the goal of everyone leaving with a solid grasp on the new rules so they can continue their adventure down the path of an amazing rule set.  As all of this will be very new and fresh for everyone\, we will not be doing any placements.  Instead anyone who shows up to participate will be entered into a raffle to go home with an item.  We will also have walk up demo tables available for anyone who does not have the game but is interested in giving it a try.  We will have several club members on hand to help answer any questions and help anyone who’s interested get started with a force that’s right for them.
